My Wishes for Graphology

by Enza De Petrillo

If I had a magic wand I would make some « graphological » dreams of mine come true.

First and foremost I would ask all «humble» graphologists to be proud of what they do because their work can be very helpful to their fellow creatures. At the same time, I would like to ask all «self-conceited» graphologists to get down to earth because the delusion of omnipotence has never done anyone any good nor ever will do.

Secondly, I would like to ask graphologists worldwide to keep in touch with as many colleagues as possible as much as they can. Any living system when shut off is bound to decline. Mutual exchange is wholly necessary for staying alive and flourishing. Thirdly, I would love to join a refresher-course each year or every other year on a different graphological method (e.g. The Wittlich method, Müller-Enskat, K. Horney, etc.). Each crash course could last three days to one week. The venue could be Madrid , Jerusalem or Timbuktu depending on which place has resident experts on the subject selected for the course. Last but not least, I would implore the majority of psychologists to be less narrow-minded; more often than not their prejudice against graphology stems from ignorance. The fact that some graphologists are impostors does not mean that graphology is of no value. That applies to psychology as well: who could dare say that psychology is nonsense because of the existence of some unqualified psychologists? Therefore I would love to ask both the psychologists and the graphologists to get to know and respect one another, each one within his own field of action without being tempted to « go overboard ». How many of these wishes I have made will come true in the future? I have been told we should not be waiting for things to happen, we should try to make them happen with our everyday deeds. All the best to everyone.
